Good afternoon to whoever reads this. This coming from a busy week in kaleo-land. Wednesday night was a fun night at youth where we played a version of Smugglers outside the community center. The idea was for one of the leaders to hide outside with clothes pins that the kids would go and collect, and then try to smuggle them back into the church. The idea was great, we didn't count on having two high school-aged kids smoking pot outside the elementary school where we were. They didn't cause any trouble but it was still somewhat unnerving to have that presence there.
Thursday we left for Missions Fest in Vancouver. We went to Park Royal mall in the evening and then arrived at the church where we were to spend the next few days. Friday morning we woke up and visited a Muslim mosque and a Hindu temple where somebody explained the respective religions to us. After that we were at Canada Place for the majority of Friday and Saturday, listening to seminars and going to rallies as well as going through different missions agencies booths. It was a good trip for many, kindling the desire to head out somewhere on a missions trip and be active in the life for Christ.
Sunday school on Sunday was a bit of a rough experience. We had gotten back on Saturday at about 11:45 from Missions Fest and were pooped and ready for bed when we got the word that we were in charge of Sunday school. We ended up leading the lesson and games, and I made two young girls cry by the end of it. The one girl just looked at me and started crying, the other girl came out of nowhere when I was playing tag and I laid the best body-check of my life on her. Anyways...yes what a great leader I am...

from the procrastinator...
hello again, back from an amazingly packed week/weekend. The week was spent up at Mount Washington and was an amazing time of resting and having fun, as well as getting to know each other at a deeper level.
Monday was an absolutely perfect day, the snow was falling, the powder was absolutely amazing, and myself and Rob, who are two of the beginner snowboarders, were in perfect conditions to try and learn to carve. After lessons nearly every day, by the end of the week we had learned the skill of carving and even proceeded down black diamond runs! The days were pretty much opened up to do whatever, breakfast was at 8 every morning and then there was no structure except for lunch and dinner until 8 or so when chapel was held. The lifts were open until 3:30 every day, and after that most people just hung out in our lodge, in one of the three hot tubs, or just around playing games and such. Wednesday we had the opportunity to go snowshoeing down the mountain which was a fun day. At the end of the week, I had progressed a ton in my snowboarding skills, hadn't broken a bone (even after all the jumps I went off!), and had virtually no soreness! It was a great week overall.
We got home on Friday, and a couple hours later Craig showed up with one of his friends, so we had 6 guys in our little room this weekend, and on Saturday morning Kelsey's parents, two sisters, and brother in law showed up until today. We had a great time hanging out. Saturday night I went and played hockey with a church team and they all came out to watch. Sunday we went to Parksville after church to meet with some old friends of theirs and had a good time with them and their kids.
On Sunday also, we were helping out in Sunday School, leading small groups and general crowd control. Friday night was youth, but I canceled because I was doing dishes until late, and I was planning on starting my paper, but then Craig showed up!
Through all of this, there is still a paper due on Wednesday...one that I haven't started and I'm delaying it even longer by doing the blog first. It has to get done right...anyways back to work!

back!
greetings! coming from a beautiful camp Qwanoes after the Christmas break and then a week of class. Class was Thursday-Saturday and then Monday and Tuesday, learning about the Pentateuch. Needless to say, the whole group is exhausted from reading and long days in class, the homework that's due, and the Mount Washington snow trip tomorrow! We leave at 5:45 tomorrow morning and are at the mountain until Friday afternoon. We're all going to be pros when we get back!
In regards to youth this past week, Wednesday night was canceled, and Friday night was a fun night of 'lumberjack games', which was incredibly fun. The community center is going through renovations in the upstairs part where church is held, so church came to camp today! It was the one-year anniversary for the church, and they normally don't do attendance counts, but in the service today were 208 people! That's incredible considering the size of Crofton and the fact that the church is only one year old. The Kaleo students are having more of a role in the Sunday School department now as well; we all sign up for certain weekends to lead music/games/devotional. Considering how I can't lead music, I signed up for a couple devotionals and games.
This past week I finally gathered up the courage to share my life with the rest of the group, opening up in chapel and sharing my testimony. Fun stuff! haha not really, but afterwards the love could definitely be felt and it felt soo good. Anyways, I'm off to pack, farewell for now!
