Morning! The past week in kaleo life has been interesting to say the least. We came off the biggest stretch of non-stop work (or so it seemed) on Tuesday, after our class of Theology, and then we were headed out to go snow caving on Wednesday/Thursday. After driving up to Mount Washington, we strapped on some snowshoes and made a bit of a trek up the mountain before deciding to stop and start digging. Our cave included myself, Rob, Joel, and Kurtis, and we spent the better part of the day just digging. First we had to dig down, then we made a tunnel leading in. At the end of the tunnel, we began sloping it up into our sleeping area so the cold air wouldn't get in as easily. Our area to sleep was quite large, we could comfortably fit the four of us in there. In the night, we weren't extremely cold, just a little bit, but it was a good experience, although extremely cold at night as we sat around the campfire, and putting on wet and cold clothes again in the morning was rough too.
When we got back from that, it was valentine's day, so me and Kelsey had a good night together. Friday was youth group again, where we played a variety of different games all involving potatoes. Potato bowling, making our versions of mr. potato head, going through an obstacle course with hockey sticks and potatoes, stuff like this. We only had 5 kids show up, and we found out that one of the girl's who had come in the beginning of the year had just had a baby, so that was kind of shocking. She's in grade 12. Sunday morning was being in the service for me, and to our surprise, we all got Warmland shirts! They're long sleeved, kind of a desert sand color (not a huuuge fan) but they're really nice. Anyways, I have a paper to write today and chapel in ten minutes, see ya later!

chaos in crofton
Hello! After a strenuous week of gospels class, and chaos at youth, i'm pooped! So tired right now!
Wednesday night was youth group, and we had five or six leaders there, only two kaleo students, and it was just chaos. The theme for the night was pillows, and we were going to have a lot of games involving pillows, but it didn't work out exactly the way we planned. I had to break up one fight, kids left, and the rest just continued in their chaotic ways. Needless to say, when the night was over, we all just kindof looked at each other and sighed in relief. Fun night!
Friday night was much more tame, we had planned on watching a movie in the community center, but there was a seniors Reno night, so we were stuck on a scavenger hunt in the rain. We split up into two teams and roamed around Crofton, not really finding the items, just hanging out and having fun. We went to the grocery store, another corner store, and the video store where we parked our bums on the floor. That was also a fun time.
Sunday morning, me and Jahnaya, the other member of the New York team that goes to Warmland, had to get up in front of the church and promote a bake sale that we were having in the church that day. In the end, we raised 91 dollars and only sold half the baking. It was much better than expected. Immediately after talking to the church, I scrambled downstairs to help out in the Sunday school that was going on downstairs, where I was (believe it or not) in charge of crafts for the day. So we made a valentines day booklet and generally had a good morning.
We're back in class today for Theology, and then tomorrow we head off to snow caving. I'm not too sold on the idea, and a couple days here to hang out would be amazing, but we'll see what happens.

hello again! so this past week I feel very much like a slacker. My church involvement was non-existent. Wednesday night we had just gotten back from snowboarding, so the two kaleo students that didn't go to the mountain went to youth. Friday the youth headed up to Campbell River, and I was under the impression that my pastor was going in my place, but it wasn't the case. Sunday was an opportunity to finally hear a sermon and get a week off from Sunday School. So, as mentioned, I did nothing!
For the rest of the week, we were either busy reading material for gospels class this week, snowboarding on Wednesday, and just hanging out. Yesterday, the New York team had a special meeting where we ate pizza and half watched the Super Bowl. A balloon 'specialist' was present to show us how to create dogs and hats and flowers out of balloons. Apparently it will be a sweet skill to show the kids when we're in New York, and it was fun to learn. The super bowl may have been a bit of a distraction, but it was still fun. Also, on Sunday morning, it was decided that yours truly will be leading crafts next Sunday for the children in Sunday school. I'm banking on it not mattering that I probably won't actually do it, but it'll be an...interesting experience. Fun times. Until next time...laaaaater
