hey, well i just realized that i haven't posted a thing about my missions trip to new york! the main goal when we were down there was to fix up a building for Metro Ministries, an organization in New York that runs childrens ministries for kids in the poorer sections of new york. we were working on the building for a total of 5 days, and we absolutely amazed the supervisor out of his mind with the amount of work and the quality of work that was done. We were mainly doing demolition, and it was so sweet to just pound on stuff all day. through all of this we had 2 and a half days to go touring and to manhatten, times square, yankee stadium, and just hang out and go shopping, which was really cool. It is such a big place with so many people who are trying to rip you off (found that out the hard way twice!). The friday before we left, we went out on sidewalk sunday school, which is where they take out big trucks and run sunday school on the sidewalk throughout new york. it was crazy, my group went to harlem, and we had like the coolest experience of our lives, and it was just so neat to see the kids and interacting with them was really cool. the next day was saturday sunday school, which is different, because they take real buses out and pick up kids and bring them back to the church for sunday school, and hten take them home again. we were on the buses, picking kids up and dropping them off, interacting with them and going to the sunday schools (there's 3 of them, each with a preschool session and a grades 1-5? session i think). the next day we were headed back home, pumped with what we'd experienced, and some of us, including myself, yearning to go back. it might become a reality...
anyways, that's just a brief overview of the trip, it was truly an amazing experience!
